FAQ
Typical 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations like the ACLU and CAIR are limited in the amount of work they can do politically. Only 20% of their activity can be related to government affairs or policy, and it is illegal for them to support or oppose candidates for public office.
Counter Coalition is not a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization; we are a collective of superpacs that are solely focused on engaging directly in elections. We seek to support pro-human rights, anti-war candidates that do not take money from corporations and foreign interest groups.
SuperPAC’s are the financial vehicle of choice for special interest groups seeking to elect their preferred candidates. The oil and gas industry, big banks, and foreign interest groups all leverage many different SuperPAC’s to influence voters across the country– often without their knowledge. Counter Coalition’s approach is to use their own tactics against them to level the playing field.
Funds will be used in three key areas:
- Critical Research to Inform Our Engagement: Understanding the demographics, history, and policy priorities of voting populations is essential to inform our strategy-creation process– and to ensure that every dollar we spend on voter communication is spent effectively..
- Strategic Communications to Shift Outcomes in Elections: TV ads, digital ads, mailers, and hired canvassers are just a few different ways that Counter Coalition will communicate directly with voters. The overarching goal of all communications: ensuring that voters support OUR candidates, and are aware of the corporations and foreign interests that are secretly funding other candidates in the race.
- Experts and Specialists to Tip the Scales: To ensure our decision-making is sound, Counter Coalition is proud to boast a team comprised of some of the best consultants and staff in the industry. With more than 70+ years of combined political experience, we have experts in strategy, media, communications, technology, operations, organizing, and more.
